If I had to pick ONE book INSTRUMENTAL to my healing, it is Plan B by Pete Wilson.  I BEGGED the Lord to save my marriage.  I spent hours on my face before Him, crying out for salvation and rescue.  Yet, He didn’t show up the way I had hoped and dreamed.  What was I to do with that?  Pete guided me through that process with this phenomenal resource!  It literally saved by sanity and my life.  If there is ANY struggle you are going through and God is not showing up the way you thought He would, please get your hands on this book as fast as you can.

 

Have you ever struggled with your work?  With determining EXACTLY the thing that would bring you the most happiness?  In The Art of Work, Jeff Goins does an EXCELLENT job in providing a road map, to help you determine “a proven path to discovering what you were meant to do.”  (This is the tagline of the book).  Guys, life is TOO short to be stuck in a career that is unfulfilling.  But you may be uncertain of how to “break out” and do that thing you LOVE and were meant to do. Jeff will help you find that path.  And once you do, you will never look back.

 

The Circle Maker  literally changed my prayer life!  Granted I’ve always been a pray-er, but often times would give up or let go before the Lord provided an answer.  The Circle Maker challenged me to “pray circles” around circumstances and situations, wrestling with God like Jacob until he blesses me with an answer.  Mark Batterson provides supernatural examples of his belief in the power of prayer and the miraculous ways the Lord provided despite incredible odds.

 

Wrecked  truly broke me IN TWO for the least of these.  After a sweet friend gave a glowing recommendation, I knew I had to get my hands on it.  Shortly after reading and following Jeff Goins on Twitter (@jeffgoins), I saw a tweet he posted about a Wrecked vision trip to Guatemala.  I immediately signed up and thus began a love for a country with seemingly hopeless circumstances yet has people filled with immense joy and MUCH hope.  This will undoubtedly teach you there is a greater purpose for life beyond yourself.

 

My earliest memories of tithing revolve around my mom giving me $1.00 each Sunday to take to Sunday School for my offering.  As I grew, I began earning income from babysitting.  I distinctly remember a time in junior high when I tithed off babysitting income, and the tithe was $5.40 because I had earned $54.00 over the previous month.  My Sunday School teacher could hardly believe I had tithed to the penny at such a young age.  Please don’t take this as boasting, but I have always tithed off earned income, never missing my opportunity to return a small portion to God. In The Blessed Life, Robert Morris provides vivid examples of Malachi 3:10 from his personal life and ministry.  I can attest to the fact that you cannot out give the Lord. If you’ve ever doubted whether you can afford to tithe, this book is for you.

 

No other marriage recovery book is quite as profound as Healing Your Marriage When Trust Is Broken.  My pastor mentioned this book during one of his sermons, and I literally flew to the bookstore after service to get it.  Cindy bravely shares her heart wrenching story in such a courageous way.  She leaves no stone unturned, detailing every raw emotion experienced from betrayal.  The GLORIOUS aspect is that Cindy’s marriage IS healed and healthy!  The Lord worked His redeeming power through unbearable circumstances, so that His glory might shine through.  If you are walking or have walked the path of betrayal in marriage, let this book be your first read.
